Beachy Beach April Love Note
(Originally published April 17, 2018)
Confidence is a great trait and useful in business but sometimes there is a fine line between confidence and cocky. It is important to be confident and assured but on the other hand the ability to be gracious to those that came before you and paved your path and the knowledge that you do not become a success alone are so important as well.
In teaching and helping Real Estate agents the common theme that I want to impart is the measure of your success in this business is not just in the dollars. It is not in where you rest in the stats but moreover it is where you rest in measuring up with respect in your community and among your work peers.
Tonight as I pondered my love note all I could think about is all the amazing humans that have paved the way for me to have this wonderful life. When I started this journey I knew so very little but every where I turned there was a kind mentor or loving human to cheer me along. Zig Ziglar says that he always had a wall of fame with pictures of all the people that had influenced him and encouraged him. While I don’t have a wall I do have a big place in my heart and feel like I will never live long enough to thank enough people for what they have done in my life.
It is almost as if there was a thought or a dream that I put out into the universe ,God would send someone to love me or to teach me. I still find this to be true in my life. Another beautiful thing about being gracious is it gives you the most delightful feeling. It is impossible, I mean totally impossible to have a gracious and thankful heart and feel badly at the same time.
I am sure that there are people in your life that you want to thank, people who set a path for you to follow, people who sacrificed on your behalf. Today would be a great day to look upward with thanks and think about those people that have made a difference in your life. Not a one of us that has reached any measure of success got here alone, we had many people who were honored to help direct and guide us. Thankfully this tide continues when we reach down and help another one up.
You know the sweetest thing in life is to have something and someone to be grateful for and in that department my cup overflows. I loved the song, My Tribute as a child and it begins…. “How can I say thanks for the things you have done for me?” Just that one line makes my heart well up and I hope something stirs in you as well and you grab your phone or your pen and paper and just say THANKS!!! Thanks for the things you have done for me.
with Gracious and loving thanks to all of you!!!
