Beachy Beach May Love Note

“Hey! I’m not giving up today
There’s nothing getting in my way
And if you knock knock me over
I will get back up again!” – Princess Poppy, Trolls
You might find it hard to believe that I can easily identify with the optimistic, happy little troll in one of the movies my grand kids (and my sweet little Lacey) love to watch. Princess Poppy sets out on an impossible quest but always chooses to look on the bright side of every obstacle she encounters. Sound familiar?
I love this particular song, “Get Back Up Again,” and the message it sends to the kids (and the parents watching.) This song does not promise that you will not get knocked down. If gravity has any say in your life, you will get knocked down more than once. The important thing is to get back up every time you get knocked over.
Life will often throw you a curveball… or five. I am relatively an expert in this area. And the easiest things to put on the backburner is yourself. Who has time to work out or eat healthy or go to the doctor or read self-improvement books when you have to juggle business and kids and a husband and charity work and family time and all the things? You take yourself off the priority list and add yourself to the when-I-around-to-it list.
We have all experienced not-so-pleasant situations in real estate. You show a million properties to a couple that decides to move back to Canada. You have three contracts that have fallen through on a listing. You have an appraisal that comes in way lower than expected. You have that customer that is simply impossible to please. On top of that, your life is starting to sound like a sad country song.
Don’t give up! Don’t throw in the towel! Push through and get the job done. You don’t have to do all the things. You just have to focus what’s important. If it’s important, you will make time for it. If it’s not, you will make excuses. The destination is worth the journey. And you will be grateful for the lessons you learned along the way.
“What if it’s all a big mistake?
What if it’s more than I can take?
No! I can’t think that way ’cause I know that
I’m really, really, really gonna be okay!!”
The next time life knocks you down, think of the little happy pink troll and get back up on your feet. Push those negative thoughts out of your mind and focus on the task before you. Remember that God will never give you more than what you can handle. Remember that God has a plan for your life, and everything will work out for good. Believe that God will give you the strength to get through whatever you’re going through. So get back up and get back to it!
