Karen Key Smith was born in Enterprise, Alabama, a little town famous for something rather unusual: a monument honoring the boll weevil! When that tiny pest devastated the cotton crops, the community found a way to turn adversity into opportunity. Karen likes to think a little of that hometown spirit rubbed off on her. Finding the good in difficult situations, looking for possibilities where others see obstacles, and believing that something wonderful can come from something hard have become guiding principles in both her life and her business.

Karen began her real estate career in 2003 and, in 2010, at the age of 50, founded Beachy Beach Real Estate from a bedroom in her condo. What began as a dream and a whole lot of determination has grown into a thriving brokerage with more than 120 team members serving the beautiful communities along Florida's Emerald Coast. While she is enormously grateful for the company's growth, Karen believes its greatest success has never been measured simply in sales or numbers, but in the lives touched along the way.

One of Karen's greatest joys is mentoring and encouraging her agents, whom she lovingly refers to as her Beachy Beach family. She believes that helping people recognize their gifts, grow in confidence, and find their own path to success is one of the greatest privileges of leadership. She also believes that kindness, generosity, integrity, and a willingness to do the right thing are not just good personal qualities. They are good business practices. At Beachy Beach, business has never been just business. It is about relationships, opportunities, and the impact we can have on our customers, our fellow agents, and the communities we call home.

The company motto, "The only people we have to get even with are those who have helped us," reflects the heart behind Beachy Beach Real Estate. Karen believes that success carries with it an opportunity and a responsibility to lift others, give back, and leave things a little better than we found them. It is a philosophy that shapes the culture of the company and reminds her team that how we treat people matters just as much as what we accomplish.

Beyond real estate, Karen is an author, motivational speaker, and host of the Be Sweet Y'all podcast. She is also the author of Joy Is My Favorite Color, a book rooted in her belief that our words, our mindset, and the way we choose to see the world can make a remarkable difference in how we experience life. These same principles are woven into the way she leads, mentors, and approaches the everyday challenges of running a business.

Karen is a mama, a Ya Ya, a lifelong encourager, and a firm believer that there is almost always a way to find something good, even in the most unexpected circumstances. She remains grateful for every person who has been part of the Beachy Beach story and believes the best chapters are still being written.
